Action Society applauds off-duty SAPS members arresting rape suspect

A rape suspect was arrested in Klerksdorp on Sunday after the incident was brought to the attention of a police member currently on leave. The police member contacted two other members who were on rest days at the time. The three teamed up and made the arrest.

“Action Society would like to congratulate these members that still wear the uniform with pride. We welcome the positive news concerning the South African Police Service amidst many challenges in the SAPS,” said Ian Cameron, Director of Community Safety at Action Society.

Action Society is a civil rights organisation acting in the interest of the public through active advocacy for policy change. “We work within the community to fight for a reformed justice system, holding government accountable for failing to protect South African citizens and to bring violent criminals to book. Action Society is driven by the purpose to give a voice to the voiceless,” Cameron explained.
