Make Your Donation Go Further with Section 18A Tax Benefits

When you support Action Society, you are helping protect vulnerable South Africans, strengthen communities, and advocate for safer neighbourhoods and a more effective criminal justice system. Your donation may also qualify for valuable tax benefits.

Action Society is an approved Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) with Section 18A approval from the South African Revenue Service (SARS). This means qualifying donations made to Action Society may be claimed as a tax deduction, subject to the requirements of the Income Tax Act.

What is Section 18A?

Section 18A of the Income Tax Act encourages charitable giving by allowing taxpayers to deduct qualifying donations made to approved Public Benefit Organisations from their taxable income.

If your donation qualifies and you request a valid Section 18A tax certificate from Action Society, you may be able to reduce your taxable income when submitting your annual tax return to SARS. Qualifying donations are generally deductible up to 10% of your taxable income, with any excess potentially carried forward in accordance with SARS requirements.

Who can claim?

Section 18A tax deductions may be available to:

  • Individuals
  • Companies
  • Trusts
  • Other qualifying taxpayers

To claim your deduction, you will need a valid Section 18A tax certificate issued by Action Society.

Requesting your tax certificate

Once your donation has been processed, you can request a Section 18A tax certificate containing the information required by SARS from Action Society.

To help us issue your certificate promptly, please ensure that you provide:

  • Full name or organisation name
  • Identity or registration number, where applicable
  • Income tax reference number, if requested
  • Email address and contact details

Providing complete and accurate information helps ensure your certificate complies with current SARS requirements.

Your donation makes a difference

Every donation enables Action Society to:

  • Support victims of violent crime and their families.
  • Advocate for stronger laws and greater accountability.
  • Drive campaigns that improve public safety and protect vulnerable communities.
  • Hold government institutions accountable.
  • Mobilise South Africans to take action on issues that affect their communities

Together, we can build a safer South Africa where justice is served and communities can thrive.
