Action Centre: Mother gunned down in Belhar

The community of Belhar are fuming – after a mother was shot and killed while walking her son to school.

In October, Lauren Kennedy, 25, was shot in De Braak Close in Belhar. Her seven-year-old child was with her when she was shot in the head. The boy has been left traumatised.

According to reports, the suspect ran away after the shooting – however, police have made an arrest. It is unclear whether the ex-boyfriend drew the gun and fired the shot at her. According to police, the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident are under investigation.

The family has mandated Action Society to help with further investigation on the matter and with prosecution oversight

Action Society was in the Bellville Magistrates Court on Monday, 24 October, where the accused appeared for bail information.

The case was postponed to Tuesday, 1 November, for a formal bail application.
