Action Society had another bitter-sweet celebration this week as the man who raped and murdered 15-year-old Jamie-Lee Julius was sentenced to life in prison. The accused is sentenced on counts of rape and murder and his name will now be entered into the National Register of Sex offenders.
“It is a bittersweet celebration. Bitter, because nothing can bring Jamie-Lee back or undo the trauma her family has had to endure during the battle for justice. But sweet, because justice has been served in this case,” said Head of Action Society’s Action Centre, Kaylynn Palm.
Jamie’s lifeless body was discovered by her sister behind a water tank on a farm near the Great Brak River in Mossel Bay on 28 January 2023. She was raped and strangled to death.
“We are finally starting to gain the momentum we have been fighting to see for so long. We are glad that this killer is behind bars, and now hope that we can carry this momentum into our other cases, and bring justice to the most vulnerable people in our communities.”
