Action Society will be conducting oversight in the sexual assault case of Marigold, a six-year-old girl from Gauteng. According to Marigold’s mother, she was raped by her father’s cousin in June last year during a visit to his house. He was arrested on 2 January 2024 but was granted bail. He is expected to appear in court again on 24 July 2024.
“It is unacceptable for a child rapist to be roaming free in South Africa. It is the duty of each citizen to protect the young and vulnerable people in our community. We support her mother who has been unwavering in her attempt to get justice for her young daughter in difficult circumstances. This young girl deserves justice, and we will do what is needed to see this rapist behind bars,” said Head of Action Society’s Action Centre, Kaylynn Palm.
