Action Society welcomes General Sitole sacking, but Minister Bheki Cele must follow

“We welcome the termination of national commissioner Lt Gen Khehla Sitole’s services for the SAPS as announced by the presidency. It is a small step in the right direction, but minister Bheki Cele must also be sacked whilst an independent panel is appointed to select a competent national commissioner.” said Ian Cameron, director of community safety at Action Society.

Cameron explained that Action Society would like to see an independent panel of policing experts appointed to restructure the SAPS management, ensure that everyone has been appointed according to merit and not political affiliation, and to select a competent national commissioner that can help to rebuild the once mighty SAPS.
