BlueLightMafia Eight Deploy Stalingrad Strategy to Delay Justice

The legal team representing the so-called #BlueLightMafia eight is once again attempting to avoid facing trial—this time by using a Section 174 application to discharge the accused on the basis of “insufficient evidence” after all other strategies have failed. Action Society condemns this as a classic Stalingrad strategy—using every possible procedural tactic to delay justice.

The application was meant to be heard today, but outstanding court transcripts for 31 July 2024, 1 August 2024, and 20–22 August 2024 caused yet another delay. The transcripts are expected to be ready by 22 August, with the application—anticipated to be no more than 30 pages and take approximately four hours to argue—now postponed to 11 September.

Should the Section 174 application fail, the prosecution has requested that the week of 6 November be reserved in its entirety for the continuation of the trial, with all parties committed to these dates.

“Justice delayed is justice denied. The BlueLightMafia eight should face justice without further obstruction. This relentless Stalingrad strategy is nothing more than an abuse of process, and the victims and the public deserve closure,” said Juanita du Preez, spokesperson for Action Society.
