Court delays as criminals targets sexual offences court in robbery

Action Society expressed anger after the Sexual Offences Court in Khayelitsha were burgled over the weekend. Suspects stole televisions, monitors and speakers – critical equipment for sensitive cases like these. Many cases on the roll in these courts, some of which Action Society are involved with, will be delayed until the courts can restore the stolen equipment or an alternative venue can be found.

“It’s saddening to see how our society seems to have no regard for law and order. There are already enough hurdles in getting these sensitive court cases heard, and now we have criminals stealing from the courts. We hope that the court can restore these items and get back to schedule as soon as possible,” said Action Society’s Kaylynn Palm.
