Wednesday, 9 November 2022: Cape Town mother in court for an assault case

Action Society team was in the Blue Downs Magistrates Court on Wednesday, assisting a woman with an assault case. She was not only supported by Action Society but from the members of Women of Hope in Kleinvlei.

Now the woman claims that her abusive ex-husband manipulated his daughter into accusing her mother of assault, which saw her arrested. The mother was released and is trying to get her child help, as her daughter has become a victim of cyberbullying since being taken out of her mother’s care. She also claims that her ex-husband is harassing her despite legally divorcing him.

The matter has been postponed to February 2023. The case was postponed as the magistrate was not in the office on her court appearance.

Strand woman beaten badly by her boyfriend

Action Society is assisting a woman whose boyfriend severely beat up. The man appeared in court on Tuesday, 1 November 2022.

Bail was set at R500, and the accused was warned not to contact the victim in any form.

The woman was assaulted in September this year by her new boyfriend. According to her, the accused beat her after he had a ‘fight ‘with her ex-boyfriend.

The accused beat the woman so severely that she had to get stitches in her face. Her family is aware of the incident, but they are putting pressure on her to withdraw the case. The woman is also scared that she will lose her job if she must go to court every time. She has mandated Action Society to assist with the matter. The matter has been postponed to December 2022.
