IPID confirms receipt of Action Society’s, Ian Cameron complaint

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) confirmed that it had received a complaint lodged by the head of community safety at Action Society, Ian Cameron. The complaint relates to the misconduct of members of the SAPS when they forcefully removed Cameron from a community meeting in Gugulethu, Cape Town, last week.

Cameron also laid charges of crimen injuria and common assault against the Minister of Police, Bheki Cele and police members after the minister went on a rant when Cameron pointed out his failure as minister. Survivors and families of victims of gender-based violence mandated Action Society to speak on their behalf during the meeting.
