Die burgerregte-organisasie, Action Society, sê die polisie het nie die wil om georganiseerde misdaad te bestry nie, omdat die land nie gespesialiseerde eenhede het nie. Dit volg nadat Suid-Afrika volgens die Wêreldwye Georganiseerde Misdaad-aanwyser wat onlangs bekend gemaak is, 19de in die wêreld geplaas is sover dit die vestiging van georganiseerde misdaad aanbetref. Action Society se direkteur van gemeenskapsveiligheid, Ian Cameron, sê hulle gee nie die minister van polisie, Bheki Cele, uitsluitlik die skuld vir die skerp styging nie, maar dit sal ‘n goeie begin wees as hy aanspreeklikheid sou aanvaar.
