Sixteen-year-old stab victim safe as accused stays behind bars, case postponed

The 16-year-old victim of a relentless stabber will remain safe while her attacker stays behind bars without bail until the case resumes on 24 October 2023, following another postponement today.

The teenager was nearly stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend in July this year. Action Society supported the victim and her family at the Paarl Regional Court.

“This was the second time the accused tried to kill her. On the first occasion, he stabbed her in the back, damaging her lungs, and she was hospitalised for two weeks. He was released on bail and went after her again, this time stabbing her in the head,” said Action Society’s Kaylynn Palm.

Fortunately, the accused was denied bail and remains in custody.

“It is safe to assume that if he ever walks free, he will go after her again. Action Society will continue to oversee this case to ensure he doesn’t get the chance,” concluded Palm.
