Stop playing Russian war games and start focusing on fighting crime South Africa

With 84 murders per day, the South African government have many more pressing issues at home than getting involved in the Russia-Ukraine war.

Amidst allegations that South Africa provided or acted as a middleman to supply Russia with weapons and the SA Army Chief visiting Moscow at this controversial time, crime in the country is out of control.

“It is time that the South African government and President Cyril Ramaphosa start getting their priorities straight,” said Ian Cameron, director of community safety at Action Society. “We urgently need a skills audit in the South African Police Service, along with polygraphing all members – including leadership – to get rid of the driftwood and start providing the policing service South Africa needs. Supplying weapons and visiting Russia will not fix the crime situation here.”
