Victory in the courts as rapists and killers of minors put behind bars; Action Society’s hard work pays off

The saying that “the wheels of justice turn slowly, but grind exceedingly fine” has rung true for Action Society this week as we see two of our most contentious cases end in victory, with killers and rapists of children finally put behind bars where they belong.

Justice prevailed at the Mitchell’s Plain Regional Court in a momentous victory as the teenage boy who raped young Orchid* was handed a sentence of five years direct imprisonment.

At the Paarl Regional court, the man accused of killing Lihle Zenzile, Ayabulela Zenzile, admitted to throttling and drowning his then 10-year-old cousin. He pleaded guilty on charges of premeditated murder and rape for which he will receive a combined sentence of 45 years after a plea bargain.

“We face these monsters on a daily basis at Action Society, and although the road to victory is a long one, we must celebrate and rejoice that these people are removed from society, and no longer in a position to hurt our children. We hope that Orchid can use this time to heal from her traumatic rape, and we want people to remember Lihle’s bright smile and joyful spirit, with the knowledge that the person who took her life will not see the light of day for a very long time” said Head of Action Society’s Action Centre, Kaylynn Palm.
