Earlier this week, Action Society was anticipating that the internal disciplinary hearing against the Blue Light Mafia eight would move forward. However we were once again met with a baffling development when the eight accused men fired their representative only to re-appoint him 20 minutes later. They then promptly informed the chairperson that he must be given more time to familiarise himself with the case as he is now their ‘new representative’. The case has been postponed once again to 29 August 2024.
“We are already extremely frustrated with the eight accused and their endless delay tactics, but this is the most ridiculous one thus far. Today they argued that it is their right to have a representative that is up to speed with their case,” said Action Society’s Juanita du Preez.
Action Society is currently mounting pressure on the SAPS and IPID to end these delaying tactics through a public petition at this link: https://actionsociety.co.za/bluelightmafia/
“It is time to put the foot down and stop wasting time. These men have caused a great deal of trauma and now they are only wasting time and taxpayer money. Action Society demands that these men are permanently stripped of their ranks and never given the opportunity to serve in any capacity in law enforcement ever again ,” concluded du Preez.
