Action Society welcomes justice prevailing against child sex abuser Ackerman and violent criminal Kelly

“It is a good day when a child sex abuse ringleader is found guilty, and a murderous woman-beater receives a harsh sentence on one day,” said Ian Cameron, Community Safety Director at Action Society.

Action Society welcomes the court finding the child sex abuse kingpin Gerhard Ackerman guilty of hundreds of charges, including rape, sexual exploitation of children, human trafficking, sexual grooming and the possession of child pornography.

“It is a pity that his co-conspirator, acting judge Paul Kennedy committed suicide before he could face his day in court too because no person who commits these horrible acts against children should be allowed to go unpunished,” said Cameron. “We hope the court will be harsh in its sentencing and ensure Ackerman will never see the outside of a prison again.”

Ackerman will be sentenced on 18 July 2023.

Raymond Kelly was sentenced to 34 years in prison for the murders of Brendon de Wee and Griet Plaatjes and the severe abuse of his girlfriend, Regina Saayman. Kelly’s court case lasted very long as he employed delaying tactics and continued to lie during the proceedings.

Action Society is a champion against crimes against children and women and has various petitions running to further these causes. To support Action Society in bringing change and protecting vulnerable children and women, support us here.
